We expand the limits of your world…English language is the medium.
Bhavna GUpta (she/her)
Founder- The Learning sutra
The limits of my language are the limits of my world.
-LUDWIG WITTGEnSTEIN
As one of the founding authors of the Readable App, Bhavna’s passion for the English language and her thorough understanding of teaching English shines through as does her professionalism and ability to work to deadline. Bhavna’s first attempt at writing CEFR-aligned content was one of the best I’ve seen so far. Her adaptation of grammar and language for ‘The Selfish Giant’ as well as the narration she recorded for the same is excellent and demonstrates her love of teaching and learning. I look forward to her future contributions to the Readable app.

The Learning Sutra
At Learning Sutra, we have a dream. We want to empower learners with ‘real’ English and foster a sense of social responsibility in order to create positive change for themselves and for the world.
Learning Sutra offers FREE engaging and high quality language learning content. Designed as CEFR-aligned resources, the resources can be used by teachers, parents or learners as a constructive way to spend time practicing English outside class.
CEFR-aligned
Each resource is aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and also to a particular age-group. While anyone can access resources for any CEFR-level or age group to practise their language skills, the topic of the resource and the type of activities would be particularly relevant to the CEFR-level/ages mentioned in the resource.
Engaging content
Each resource is designed as an independent lesson based on an informative and engaging external video/audio/reading resource that acts as a lesson hook. For effective learning, the recommended time is mentioned in each lesson but learners can do it at their own pace if they wish. Each resource comes with a downloadable answer key with correct and suggested answers.

Know the Founder
Bhavna likes to call herself a LifeLong Learner. (LLL - yes, we know the second L in ‘LifeLong’ should be lowercase, but we love it this way)
Her teaching journey began in 1993. She taught English at a couple of schools but she always felt that a piece of the jigsaw was missing!
Fast forward to 2013! Marriage, two kids and a lot of informal volunteering projects later, she volunteered for Teach India, an initiative by Times of India to teach English to marginalised youth. She did not know it then, but this was her foray into the world of ELT and was precisely what she had envisioned herself doing!
The four skills and the four systems of language fascinated her and her interest in the communicative approach grew, as did her realisation that this approach is required in the classroom if learners were to acquire a language rather than learn a subject.
She had found the missing piece of the JIGSAW!
